if you are planning to study in Taiwan for an extended period, you will likely need to apply for a student visa, also known as a Resident Visa (Visitor) for the Purpose of Study.

Application Requirement:

• 1 Photocopy of Indonesian household card (KK)
• Passport (Passport valid for at least 6 months and above)
• 2 pieces of 4 x 6 colored photographs with white background
• The applicant’s qualifications must be in accordance with the “Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan” promulgated by the Ministry of Education
• Admission letter issued by school in Taiwan
• Highest education diploma and transcripts
• If the diploma is not issued in Indonesia, TETO can ask the document be authenticated in its original country
• Medical check-up (no need to be legalized)

– Applicant’s resident visa must be attached

– The medical validity period is 3 months from the date the report is issued

– Medical treatment can be done at a large hospital or referred clinic

– If the results of the MMR vaccine are negative, then you are required to attach proof   of the vaccine

• If the medical check-up is not issued in Indonesia, TETO can ask the document be authenticated in its original country
• Proof of financial support : 1. If provide bank statement, the minimum transaction within the past 6 months should have an average balance of USD $5000 or more, 2. Source of financial support could be parents or other relatives. Proof of relationship should also be attached, 3. Students with scholarship can attach the proof of scholarship
• Language certificate issued by the official language proficiency institution
• Undergraduate students and exchange students for more than 6 months should submit a language certificate
• Only certificate from the following institution is accepted: 1. TOCFL: minimum A2, 2. TOEFL: iBT minimum 26; ITP minimum 385, 4. TOEIC: minimum 375, 5. IELTS: minimum 3.0

If you come to Taiwan to learn Chinese and got admitted by a Chinese Learning Center or institution in Taiwan, you can contact your nearest Taiwanese embassy, consulate, or representative office for applying your Visitor Visa. Visitor Visa is issued for student who is going to stay in Taiwan less than 6 months. If your program is longer than 6 months, you will need to apply for a Resident Visa.

Application Requirement:

• Bank statement (Minimum transaction within the past 6 months with an average balance of USD 3,000 or more)
• Schools in Taiwan must be registered in Taiwan’s Ministry of Education
• Admission letter issued by school in Taiwan
• Highest diploma certificate and transcript
• Original school fees payment receipt (if any)
• For those who is not the first-time applicant, must attach transcript and attendance record of the last semester
• The applicant of this visa must be 17 years

Chinese students who meet the definitions of the “Study and Counseling Support Regulations for Overseas Chinese Students in Taiwan” may apply for a visitor visa or residence visa by submitting relevant documents. After graduating from college in Taiwan, students can also apply for a white-collar visa to continue working in Taiwan.
